Founder's Story

I am a South Asian woman shaped by heritage, resilience, and the people who taught me that caring for yourself is an act of love.

I was raised by a strong single mother who carried our family with grace and determination. One thing I remember vividly from my childhood is her unwavering commitment to self-care.

Hair and skin rituals were never occasional indulgences in our home—they were expressions of nourishment and self-respect.

Hair concerns have always been part of our family’s story. We struggled with hair fall and thinning across generations, and I watched my mother approach these challenges with intention and care.

She believed that beauty begins with consistency, nourishment, and creating moments of intention for yourself, even in life’s busiest seasons. Those lessons stayed with me.

As I grew older, migrated and built my life, I carried these traditions with me. But migration, pregnancy, and the demands of modern life took a toll on my hair and my sense of self. During seasons of stress and change, I found myself returning to the simple rituals I had known since childhood. In the quiet act of massaging oil into my scalp, I rediscovered something deeper than hair care—I found moments of calm, healing, and reconnection.

Over time, these rituals became something even more meaningful. My husband, Shais, embraced them alongside me, and our Sunday hair ritual became a sacred pause in our busy lives. What began as caring for our hair evolved into something bigger: a shared commitment to slowing down, being present, and intentionally caring for ourselves and each other.

One of the most unexpected discoveries in this journey was seeing the men in my life embrace these rituals wholeheartedly. My husband, cousins, and friends initially approached Vitalya out of curiosity, but they stayed for the experience. They found that these moments of intentional care offered something we all need, regardless of gender: a pause, a sense of grounding, and an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves. In that realization, I understood that self-care isn’t a women’s concept or a men’s concept—it is a human one.

That is how Vitalya was born.

I wanted to share the comfort, joy, and transformation these rituals brought into my life with others. More than creating products, I wanted to create invitations to pause—to care for ourselves intentionally and reconnect with the people and moments that matter most.

House of Vitalya was created on a simple belief: when we care for ourselves with intention, something beautiful happens. We slow down. We reconnect. We feel restored. And we remember that the smallest rituals often have the power to transform the way we live.
